‘BIBC NEWS’ – 2018 Summer
GDPR: As I am sure you are only too aware all clubs, new General Data Protection Regulations came into force on 25th May this year, and as we hold data on our members, we are affected by these changes. Therefore, we require all existing and new members to complete an application form (existing membership numbers will not change), then read our new GDPR policy on the reverse of the form, tick the appropriate consent box and sign the form. Please note that we do note share your information with any other third-party companies. We would only ever share information with our own members and national governing bodies. These regulations will have a big impact on the club when it comes to giving out phone numbers for, for example, people cancelling matches or looking for subs, so please think carefully when you tick the appropriate box.
AGM: This year the AGM is on Tuesday 21st August at 8pm. Remember, this is your Club, your AGM, so if you have something to say, or something you want to change, then come along and make your voice heard. The usual incentive to attend the AGM remains - a FREE club membership for 2018-19 for the lucky member whose number is drawn out of the hat. Any member wishing to raise a Notice of Motion MUST put it in writing before August 1st, addressed to the Hon. Secretary.
Summer Leagues: The 4 summer leagues have been operating successfully. Chartered Accountant exams have been occurring on and off during the summer months.
The Restaurant will not re-open until September.
Club Development: The Club’s Development Committee has met and drawn up a list of possible future ventures, and after prioritising, we have agreed that the most important aspects to immediately address are: LED lighting and recruitment. Active steps are already in place for both of these; more details will be available soon. New incentives are being offered to our own members e.g. if you introduce a friend who joins the Club as a FULL member, you will receive a £30 voucher for the Club Shop. It is vital that our own members make a big effort this year to recruit.
You will notice on entering the Clubhouse that we have removed the old scoreboard on the top green This was to make room for our old Honours Boards, some of which have reached full capacity on the Restaurant side.
New Member Open Days: this year they will occur on Wednesday 22nd and Friday 24th August from 11am until 9pm. As per previous years, there is no charge to bowl on these nights for potential new members. If a new member joins on the night, a discount will be available and can I repeat a point from earlier, a current member introducing a new member will receive a voucher for £30 for the Club Shop. Coaching will be available on both days.
Members Open Evenings: Open evenings for our own members this year are on Tuesday 11th and Thursday 13th of September, from 4pm until 11pm on both nights. Rinks cannot be reserved – it is operated on a first come first served basis.
Winter Leagues 2018/19: The new Winter League season will begin on Monday September 17th. The Summer packs are being sent out along with this Newsletter.
NOTE: all forms must be back to the Office by Friday 17th August.
Coaching: Coaching dates for the 8 week session will begin on Monday 8th October. One to one coaching is available – please contact the stadium for details.
Bowls Shop: With the Indoor season just around the corner remember the shop supplies all your bowling needs at great prices. Whether you need new bowls or a tube of Grippo call in and speak to John or Richard
Club Exit: once again, we cannot forbid members from turning right out of the Club, but you MUST be careful. Just to update you, together with the Crowne Plaza, and others, we are trying to get lights installed on the Milltown Road.
Bar Staff: Unfortunately, Andrew who worked in the bar last season has left us after gaining full time employment elsewhere. What this means is that come September we will have a position available for an experienced bar person. If anyone is interested, please contact Richard or John in the first instance.
