Welcome to this Summer edition of your Club Newsletter.
British Isles: For those who missed it or did not attend, the International Series which the Club hosted in March, along with the British Isles Championships, went extremely well. We have received praise and plaudits from many sources.
I would like to thank all Club members who contributed in any way to help make these international events successful. This particularly applies to those members who generously contributed to the daily raffle.
It would be very remiss of me if I did not thank my Committee who went above the call of duty to help things run smoothly.
I leave the most thanks to our Manager, Richard, and his Assistant John (who played in the Irish team as well!) It takes Ulster to show GB how to do things well!
AGM – this year will be on Tuesday August 29th at 8.00pm. The usual incentive remains – a free draw at the end of the night for a year’s free membership. For those members with the 5 year deal, if you win the draw, you will receive a £50 voucher for the Shop.
It must be blindingly obvious to all that bowling clubs in NI are losing members fast. It is not my role to examine the reasons for this but I would strongly appeal to all our members to try and attract new members to BIBC. Flyers will be going out to all outdoor clubs in August.
NB – if any member wishes to bring a Notice of Motion (eg a change of rule) to the meeting, they must inform me asap. I already have one proposed change.
Open Days: With this in mind, our Open Days for New Members are Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st August from 4pm until 11pm. Coaches will be in attendance both days. An incentive for new members who join on the day will be a £10 reduction on their fee. If a member proposes a new member, then they will receive a voucher for 4 x 2 hour bowling sessions.
Open Days for Members will be Tuesday 5th and Thursday 7th September from 4pm until 11pm both nights.
Summer Leagues: this year we are again running 4 leagues successfully.
Winter Leagues : apart from the usual, we are offering one new league: a Mixed Pairs on Friday evenings. If this proves as popular as the Mixed Pairs on Friday mornings it will take off.
The Summer packs are being sent out along with this Newsletter. All forms are to back by AUGUST 11th note.
Our Honours Boards (mostly on the wall near the Restaurant) need augmenting. We are going to purchase new Boards, and if anyone feels like sponsoring one, please talk to Richard or myself. (Look at the present ones to see the format).
World Champion: Chloe Watson surpassed herself this year winning the World Indoor Bowls Singles title in Wales. Massive congratulations Chloe, from everyone at Belfast Indoor Bowls Club!

The two greens will be stretched just prior to the start of the new season, exact date TBC.
League Season: The new leagues will start on Monday September 11th.
The British Isles Short Mat Bowls Championships are being held here on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th November, so there will be no leagues on either of those days for us. This is yet another prestigious event that the Club is hosting, and the top British Isles Short mat bowlers will be playing.
Club Exit: we cannot forbid members from turning right out of the Club, but you MUST be careful. Just to update you, together with the Crowne Plaza and other interested parties, we are trying (again) to get lights installed on the Milltown Road.
Vacancies: We are currently looking for a part-time bar person and also a cleaner. Experience in both roles will be essential and any interested parties, please contact Richard for more details.
**** ALSO, just in - we will be looking for a part-time Duty Officer for a couple of shifts per week. Experience of working in an office environment and computer literacy essential ****
