Welcome to the March edition of your Club’s Newsletter.
Not many signs of spring yet, but we shall soldier on inside.
NB: repeat warning/request – do not leave any valuables, including car keys in the locker areas. Lock valuables away!
Firing shots: while we cannot ban these shots we would ask all players to respect/ warn players on either side.
Somewhat on the same lines : please try not to drop your bowls from a height onto the green – damage is being done.
Car- Parking: once again. Some fit (and maybe even younger!) members are parking in Disabled spots or Committee spaces. The Committee takes a dim view of this selfishness
and will, in future, call members off the green to move their cars.
Forthcoming dates:
- IIAB (short mat) are here on March 8th and 15th.
- Club Finals are coming up – but hopefully Finals themselves will be on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd March (depending on earlier rounds).
- Club Dinner is on Saturday 22nd – posters will be up shortly. You will need to book- this was a popular event last year.
- Championships and Internationals - our Irish members head off to Stanley very shortly- we naturally wish them all the best – both men and ladies.
Once more – if you have not yet signed in for your summer pack via e-mail, please do so- so far we have nearly 300 signed up.
If you are a member of an outdoor club you may be willing to pick up some of the summer packs we send out for members – please let us know if you are willing to act in this capacity.
Wet weather: PLEASE wipe your feet properly on coming into the Stadium.
I.C.E forms – in case of emergency we have I.C.E forms in the Foyer – please fill one in – just in case. Thank you.
Office: if your opposition cancels a league match, you must inform the office as soon as possible, if you wish to use the rink, otherwise it will be given away.
Looking forward again: during the Summer, the Club will not be open on Saturdays – but we will be open on Thursday and Friday evenings. We are also thinking of having three Summer Leagues instead of two – maybe linked with the weather?? See posters for details.
Hot Shots : Irene Minnis and Nan McBride in the Vera McCourt Pairs.
The Malone Club’s ‘Bob the Bowler’ competition has concluded and the winners were :
Bradley Hanna and Irvine Mackay.

A wee poem : You are what you think you are.
If you think you are beaten you are,
You think you dare not you don’t,
If you like to win but think you can’t
It’s almost certain you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose you have lost,
For out in the world we find
Success begins with a person’s will,
It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed you are,
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself
Before you can win a prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.
