‘BIBC NEWS’ – 2015 December

Children In Need: Congratulations to Alberta and her girls for raising (with your help!)  £820 for Children In Need.  Well done.

PLEASE NOTE: GREY OR BLACK JEANS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR EVENING LEAGUE GAMES.  PERSISTENT OFFENDERS WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE GREEN!

Mobile Phones: Once again, can I point out that mobile phones should be turned to silent or off when on or near the greens. I have witnessed two separate and disruptive loud calls recently.

Shoes: Another ‘green’ matter: FLAT shoes are an ESSENTIAL item.  Trainers are not permitted. (this includes outdoor shoes obviously).

Rink Changes: Note from the Office: if you have changed, or planning to change, the names on your rink, including subs, please inform a Duty Officer.

Coaching: This year’s Coaching class ended on Monday Nov. 30th, and once again has proved popular. As usual, we are starting the New Year with a Beginners Pairs League.

The Anniversary Dinner : it was really good to see some of our founder members present.  The match between Past Internationals and Present Internationals went very well and was enjoyed by all.

As usual, Alberta did us proud by serving up a sumptuous meal. The cake was fantastic (see the top ‘bowler’ presentation in the Trophy Cabinet). the Tombola and Auction raised money  for Club funds, and the dance to end the evening went well.  All in all, it was a very successful day.

The 50th Anniversary Booklet is now available for a minimum donation of a £1.

Talking of dinners – if you have not yet booked your Xmas dinner (perhaps for your Short Mat club)- do so ASAP.

Ladies Internationals: Belfast Indoor Bowls Club is well represented on the Ladies Indoor International team with 13 representatives, plus a reserve; congratulations to Patricia Ross and  Joan Montgomery on gaining first caps. The Ladies Section,as you may have noticed, are raffling a lovely hamper for Christmas.

Major congratulations are in order for Neil Mulholland who won Gold in Brisbane in the Champion of Champions competition.  Bowls International has a 2-page spread on Neil (and that was before he won the medal!).
