‘BIBC NEWS’ – DEC. 2012

Welcome to the December, and thus, the Xmas edition of your Club’s Newsletter.
Can I say at the outset we have had an outstanding start to this season – in lots of ways. Problem is where to begin – so don’t get annoyed if you are not top of the list!!
Congratulations to the BIBC Men’s Team on retaining the Inter-Stadium Cup; they beat Co Antrim very comfortably and then proceeded to defeat the new team from Ballybrakes.

It is gratifying to report as well that our Ladies Team from BIBC did exactly the same in their Inter-Stadium series.
So well done our Ladies and Gents teams!

Darts Team: our BIBC team is looking for new players (young or old)- they generally play on Friday nights. If you are interested see Richard.

Shop: John is organising a New Years Sale – so watch the notice boards for bargains.

House: I trust you all approve of our new soap dispensers and toilet roll holders. We do all we can to make your lives easier you know.

Late news: members will be saddened to hear that Eileen Bell, our esteemed Honorary Member, has passed away.

Bowls Rule:  my Umpire friends tell me that some folk are not placing the jack on the T properly! Can you believe that! Apparently, when the jack is placed, the front of the jack should be level with the front of the T.   I hope that clears that matter up.

Note: the Ladies National Finals are to be played on Friday 14th and 21st December- see noticeboard for more details.

We have invested some money in installing a new chill room in the Restaurant kitchen – this will make Alberta’s task easier, and will allow us to move some of the large freezers giving us more space.

Talking of the Restaurant - I trust you all have booked your rink/family/club/mistress/ etc for Christmas dinner. If not hurry up!

Saturday Dec. 1st sees a major Charity match at the Club beginning at 5pm – all proceeds will be given to Oscar Knox – who really needs your help. This is a sponsored match involving past and present Irish Internationals; our own John McCullough has a form on the board seeking sponsorship, so come on, even if you can’t come that night, at least support John!

You will all have noticed we have installed 4 new corner supports and 4 mid-rink supports on the bottom – this is to help our old and infirm up and down on the green! They will be painted in the near future.

Xmas Closing Times:

1. Monday 24th Dec. – closed.
2. Tuesday 25th Dec. – closed.
3. Wednesday 26th Dec. – closed.
4. Monday 31st Dec. – closed.
5. Tuesday January 1st – closed.

The Ladies Committee is running its usual Xmas Hamper- tickets are £1 a strip and the draw is on Dec. 14th. By the way, the final amount raised by the Coffee morning for Chest, Heart and Stroke reached the grand total of £850.

The Coaching classes finished on Monday 26th November, and the Beginners Singles and Pairs matches will start in the New Year.
