VACANCY – HONORARY SECRETARY
The Honorary Secretary is standing down in May 2007. Any member who is interested in taking up the post should speak with the Chairman Dr Montgomery now to allow for a proper handover in due course.
DRESS CODE
Adherence to the dress code whilst playing bowls is very important and there are some members who are not complying with it. The committee wish to remind everyone of the rule and ask that you comply with it to ensure that the high standards of the sport are maintained at all times:
“With the exception of the morning leagues it is compulsory for all gentlemen to wear grey trousers and white collared top above the waist and for all lady players to wear grey skirts or grey tailored trousers and white collared top above the waist during leagues. In the semi-finals and finals of all competitions all white apparel will be worn”. (BIBC rule book bye-law 7 Page 17)
SOFT DRINKS MACHINE
A request for the provision of a soft drinks machine was made to the committee. Enquiries were made with Coca Cola and Lucozade and it is necessary for a minimum of 100 units be sold per week before they would consider installing a machine. With the extended summer recess it is not possible to give this commitment therefore we can’t have a soft drinks machine in the club.
ENTERTAINMENT
Forthcoming events:
Saturday December 16th Music and Christmas party
Sunday December 31st Music & entertainment – late licence
COACHING
Coaching sessions will re-commence on Monday 22nd January 7.15pm to 9.15pm.
Everyone is welcome especially those new members who may have just taken up bowls and would like to improve their game. And there is space for those who have been playing a little longer and feel they also have room for improvement.
CHRISTMAS LUNCHES
The restaurant is taking bookings for Christmas lunches up to 22nd December. You can entertain your family, friends, fellow bowlers or even yourself – it is excellent value at £13.50 and always very well supported. So make your booking early.
